Dancing with the Stars 3, October 4: Drop It Like It’s Hot by Jill Jones -- 10/05/2006 The remaining dancing celebs showed their stuff last night with the waltz and paso doble. Now it’s time to see which won’t get to dance again. The consensus seems to be that Sara Evans should be the next celebrity to go home. But will the judges agree? Last night on Dancing with the Stars, our couples did either the paso doble or waltz. Several goobers were given out, a few tears were shed, and I learned that I’m not dead inside after all. Tonight, another celebrity and his or her partner will be eliminated… after 59 minutes of filler, of course. Marinell identified Karina and Mario’s song as “Cancion del Mariachi.” I took a guess at the name and was horribly wrong. Meredith reminded me that George Hamilton and Lisa Rinna sometimes performed a different dance last season from other celebrities of the same gender. To be honest, I completely forgot about that. Regarding the same issue, Sonya feels that some dances aren’t right for certain celebrities and that is why they can perform the dance that the other group is doing. That makes sense to me. What do you think? I’m tiring myself out at this point, so let’s get on with the results! Tom and Samantha welcome us to the program and tell us that Nick Lachey and Los Lonely Boys are performing tonight. Whee. We’re then treated to scenes from last night’s action and I realize how much I love Kym’s dress. Joey changes the mood by telling us in an interview that he’s thrilled he pleased Len. Also, as we see Vivica and Nick together, I’m reminded of how glad I am that he has stayed around longer this season than he did last season. He has an understated presence and I’m enjoying his interaction with Vivica. Now we see Willa and Maksim in an interview after last night’s show. She refers to him as “honey.” Either she uses that as a term of endearment for everyone or there is something going on between those crazy kids. I have to admit that I actually like the performance a lot better tonight. Los Lonely Boys are set to perform “My Way.” Personally, I think the drummer looks like he’d be fun to hang out with. Samantha is interviewing the celebrities backstage. She asks Jerry about shaking his hips. He says that at his age, you replace hips, not shake them. He also states that if he returns next week, he’s going to be sexy. Emmitt talks about his football days and playing against the Washington Redskins. Vivica explains that she and Nick have a solid fan base, so they should be safe tonight. Nobody is safe; just ask Ashly and Harry. Goody, it’s time to find out what the audience members think. Everyone explains that Sara should go home tonight. I agree, but there is a possibility that she could be staying. It’s time now to reveal the first two couples that are returning next week. Drum roll, please… Karina and Mario are safe, as are Kym and Jerry. I think Kym is more stunned than Jerry is. The DelGrosso sisters are here to perform. Not all of the sisters are pros, but of course Ashly is. The sisters look great; their movements are in sync and they are as cute as pudding. All of them have a first name that starts with the letter A. How adorable. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Samantha is once again backstage interviewing Mario and Jerry. Jerry explains that he is tired of people confusing him for Mario. I have a similar experience all of the time; people think I’m a direct descendant of the Pillsbury Doughboy, but I’m not. It’s now time for an update on Tysonia and the Slim-Fast Dance Challenge. Tonight she’s doing a samba with her professional partner Christian. She is going to wear a size eight dress after starting in a size 12. She’s shaking her butt and having a great time. She is certainly an inspiration. However, at this moment, I’m not quite that moved to leave my comfortable couch, so I’ll samba later. Last season’s champion Drew Lachey is in the audience with his wife Lea. They are here to support Nick Lachey as he entertains us with “I Can’t Hate You Anymore.” While Nick sings, Tony dances with Elena Grinenko, who was eliminated along with her celebrity partner Tucker Carlson during week one of the competition. We now find out a little bit about what happens behind the scenes. Hair and make-up are discussed, as is the fact that the male dancers wear shirts that are attached to underpants. Interesting. We’re told that everyone basically has a fake tan. Vivica says they are all competing with George from last season for the best tan. Monique says that she was sucked in and got a spray tan, too… and she’s a black girl! Just say no to spray tans no matter what your creed, race, gender, or sexual preference is. Just say no. Next, two more couples are about to learn that they are returning next week. Cheryl and Emmitt are moving on. Willa and Maksim will join them. The judges discuss the partnerships and connections that each celebrity and professional dancer have. Len says that Nick and Vivica are a match made in heaven. I love her attitude, but this still stinks. No, wait. This sucks. I’m glad that Monique and Louis are staying (after all, he is my new best friend), but Vivica and Nick did not have the worst performance this week. I hope I didn’t put a curse on the couple when I said that I was enjoying Nick’s time on the show. Vivica tells everyone to drop it like it’s hot. When asked what she’s taking away from the competition, she says, “Nick.” He has become her new friend. The other dancers look positively sick about the elimination. There it is: Vivica and Nick’s time on the show has come to an end. However, the excitement and pressure continue to build for our remaining couples. They’ll return next Tuesday to dazzle us, and once again, someone will be eliminated on Wednesday.
