I've seen 22 of the 100 listed. 3 SCHINDLER'S LIST 1993 Saw it for extra credit points in my Holocaust course at FSU 4 ROCKY 1976 I never have liked Sylvester Stallone. I don't remember why I saw the movie. Probably because my whole family went. 6 E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL 1982 Really didn't think I would like it from the previews but surprisingly I did 15 THE MIRACLE WORKER 1962 Saw this several times in elementary school 18 THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK 1959 I've seen several movie versions of the book 26 THE WIZARD OF OZ 1939 Yep, always saw it in the Fall when I was in elementary/high school 32 CASABLANCA 1942 I think I saw it once but when I found out it was a war movie, not a movie about the tropics, I lost all interest in it. Same with South Pacific. 37 FORREST GUMP 1994 Saw it with my roommates in Orlando. The most dramatic moment was when we spotted the one roommate who hadn't come with us with the boyfriend of another roommate, making out in the theater. There were fireworks in the parking lot after the movie was over!  38 PINOCCHIO 1940 I've seen pretty much all the early Disney movies. 39 STAR WARS 1977 Hell, yeah! 41 THE SOUND OF MUSIC 1965 I've seen it but it's far from my favorite Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. 43 GONE WITH THE WIND 1939 Didn't see it until I was in college but I'm an avid fan of it now. I've read the book, including the sequel. 48 THE AFRICAN QUEEN 1951 Saw this at my grandparent's house (my dad's parents). The only part that made an impression on me was the part with the leeches. 51 THE COLOR PURPLE 1985 I saw it. Kept drifting in and out of paying attention to it. It had some long, boring parts. 66 SILKWOOD 1983 I was too young to see it in the theaters and didn't know what the movie was about then, either. I like it. 67 THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL 1951 I just saw this recently. My dad got it on dvd. It was ok. Probably better in it's time but outdated now. 70 COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER 1980 I love this movie. It's got some really funny parts. "Stop growling, you sound like an old bahr". I didn't realize until I got it on dvd that Tommy Lee Jones was in it. 78 THELMA & LOUISE 1991 Started to watch it on tv once but lost interest and didn't watch the ending. 82 FIDDLER ON THE ROOF 1971 I saw this a long, long time ago. Don't remember anything about it except the song "Matchmaker". I was confused because I thought it was about someone who made matches, like the kind you start a fire with. 88 YANKEE DOODLE DANDY 1942 I love this movie! the songs are fantastic and I sing them for several weeks after I've seen the movie. "My mother's name was Mary, she was so good and true. Because her name was Mary, she called me Mary, too". 98 THE KARATE KID 1984 Really liked this movie. People still use the phrase "Wax on, wax off" all the time. 99 RAY 2004 My dad borrowed it from a co-worker the last time we went to the Keys. I liked it. No one else in my family did. They also didn't like "Walk the Line" and I did.

Amazingly enough, I've seen 50 of those films. And I own 12 of those. Dang!

pika- 06-15-2006

Which ones have you seen and which ones do you own, Jay? What were your favorites?

Which ones have you seen and which ones do you own, Jay? What were your favorites? Yeah what she said....we want to know which ones.

Jayusmagnus- 06-15-2006

A list of the ones I've seen...with the ones I *currently* own in red...(some of my favorites I am waiting to purchase on DVD). With my notes in blue...darn it! You talked me into this....and now to finish this! 2 TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD 1962 Its a good film...and I've seen it a couple of times. No desire to own it. 4 ROCKY 1976 AAAADRIANNNNNN!!!!!! Classic and rough. Stallone's BEST! But not one I need to see again. 6 E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL 1982 I enjoyed it as a kid...but as an adult, I find it not as good. Sorry, Mr. Spielberg. 7 THE GRAPES OF WRATH 1940 The kind of film that the book DESERVED! Hollywood doesn't usually get it right. This one they did. 8 BREAKING AWAY 1979 Ciao, Papa! This one grabbed me in a weird way. I don't love cycling...but I got the small-town hicks versus the college boys RIGHT AWAY! Good stuff. 10 SAVING PRIVATE RYAN 1998 I am not ashamed to say I wept so hard watching this I had to stop the tape and cry myself out...more than once. I will never watch it again, but I may make any of my kids who decide to join the military watch it...not to stop them, but so they understand the cost of freedom and prepare to live up to the demands, despite the horror and suffering. 12 APOLLO 13 1995 Good film. The ending is a given, though. 13 HOOSIERS 1986 It was okay. 14 THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI 1957 One of my favorite war pictures...I love Alec Guiness! 19 THE RIGHT STUFF 1983 LONG MOVIE...but great! 20 PHILADELPHIA 1993 Did anyone else notice that Tom Hanks is on here a few times? 26 THE WIZARD OF OZ 1939 If you didn't see this a dozen times growing up you were deprived! 27 HIGH NOON 1952 I admit to a mild crush on Grace Kelly. 28 FIELD OF DREAMS 1989 Saw this one on a date...with a girl who hated it. Never dated her again! Stupid girl! Awesome movie! 30 LAWRENCE OF ARABIA 1962 I LOVE THIS PICTURE!!!!! I MUST OWN IT!!! SOON!!! Seriously, this movie speaks to something inside me. I've seen it several times. Awesome! 32 CASABLANCA 1942 (Two copies and the soundtrack!) If I could be an actor, I would be Cary Grant or Humprey Bogart. "We'll always have Paris." I've tried to get Liesl to watch it with me...she ALWAYS FALLS ASLEEP DURING THIS FILM!!! ONCE IN THE PARK, NO LESS!!! 36 ON THE WATERFRONT 1954 Brando...'nough said. 37 FORREST GUMP 1994 Good movie and I'll own it someday. "Run, Forrest, Run!" 38 PINOCCHIO 1940 Hey, I have kids. I have nearly every Disney film made! 39 STAR WARS 1977 (two copies...original and enhanced.) Yes...I love Star Wars. But I'm not a hardcore geek. I'm NOT! 41 THE SOUND OF MUSIC 1965 (2 copies) Hello? Wife named "Liesl"? Plus, well, you know...Julie Andrews. 42 12 ANGRY MEN 1957 I have seen it several times. It never goes stale. Love Fonda. You could say I'm fonda him. 43 GONE WITH THE WIND 1939 Well, Fiddle-Dee-Dee! I love to have that wench, Scarlet. 44 SPARTACUS 1960 Hello? Rome? Gladiators? Tell me this isn't a film tailored for a history major who has a thing for Rome. "I'm Spartacus!" 47 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY 1968 I've always heard it was better if you were stoned when you watched it. Anybody know for sure? 48 THE AFRICAN QUEEN 1951 Bogey again! Yes....I love this one too. 49 MEET JOHN DOE 1941 Its one of Cooper's better films. I liked it better than High Noon! 52 DEAD POET'S SOCIETY 1989 Who doesn't love Robin Williams? 53 SHANE 1953 "Come back, Shane!" 56 BEN-HUR 1959 (also 2 copies) My favorite film of all. "You live to serve this ship. Row well and live!" I cried when I found out a couple year's ago that Chuck Heston had Alzheimer's. I have his autobiography. 57 SERGEANT YORK 1941 I met one of his relatives! He is Sergeant on the police force in Vestavia Hills, AL. Heeee! 58 CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND 1977 Spielberg...before he got all preachy, and just made GOOD movies! 59 DANCES WITH WOLVES 1990 My second real date with Liesl, this is what we saw. The memory is tied to the film and I get all nostalgic when I see it. (Kissed her for the first time that night too!) 62 BRAVEHEART 1995 Bad history. Great film! "FREEDOM!!!!" 63 RAIN MAN 1988 Dustin Hoffman deserved the honors he got for this movie. 64 THE BLACK STALLION 1979 Eh...it was okay. 67 THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL 1951 Classic sci-fi. But I'm in no hurry to watch it again. 68 AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN 1982 I was move moved by "Top Gun." 69 THE SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS 1957 Jimmy Stewart is so cool. 71 COOL HAND LUKE 1967 I adore this film! "What we have here, is a failure to communicate!" 77 DRIVING MISS DAISY 1989 Beautiful movie. "I'm trying to drive you to the store!" 78 THELMA & LOUISE 1991 Ya know...this movie doesn't inspire me. :? 79 THE TEN COMMANDMENTS 1956 I watch it almost once a year. "Are you a master builder or a master butcher?" 80 BABE 1995 This movie makes me laugh.82 FIDDLER ON THE ROOF 1971 (also two copies) It is a long-standing dream of mine to play Tevye, the main character in Fiddler. "If I were a rich man..." 86 STAND AND DELIVER 1988 Excellent film. I truly enjoyed it. 87 WORKING GIRL 1988 Oooo...Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver in the same film. Hubba, Hubba! 88 YANKEE DOODLE DANDY 1942 You wouldn't think Jimmy Cagny could pull this off...but he does. 98 THE KARATE KID 1984 I will always love this film! Mr. Miyagi is one of my heroes. 100 CHARIOTS OF FIRE 1981 I just keep hearing the music in my head. MAKE IT STOP!!!!
