Advice for the Remaining 9 Survivor: Fiji - Advice for the Remaining 9
by Jeffrey Clinard -- 04/19/2006
After the merge, a number of Survivors are in good shape while others have some work to do if they want to face the jury. What can they do to solidify their position?
The merge has happened, and not in any way expected by the Survivors. I figure the post-merge tribal challenge was a leftover from when somebody quit. However, the challenge drew up new battle lines, and Michelle lost the vote. I’m not quite sure why, as both Mookie and Dreamz seem to have admitted that Stacy jeopardized their own position, but that is the way it is.
What the vote did do was draw up new alliances, with people committed to their vote. It also means that some players are in a stronger position, and some players are now in a weaker one. This is also likely to change as the voting isn’t rational. Things change, and when they do smart players can take advantage of the situation.
Next, there is the issue of the hidden immunity idol, and why Mookie blabbed that he had it to Dreamz. The only logical reason Mookie would have given up that information was to secure his vote, but that didn’t seem to make a difference. From the previews it looks like Dreamz also tells all to Cassandra. While there is some value in having people know you have the idol, there is more in keeping it quiet until needed.
Still the game continues, and the last nine players all have to try to win. What should they be doing? It’s advice for the remaining nine.
Cassandra: The last move has put you in a situation where your vote may or may not be important. The original Moto tribe probably has the votes, but it’s a shaky alliance at best. Right now, you need to buy some time so you can figure out who to sell the vote to. If somebody tries to buy, it is probably a good idea to sell. Time is on your side for now.
Stacy: Your old allies are back, and the vote went your way. You have a good position, and you need to make the most of it by being a force. You will lose the jury vote if you are seen as passive; now is the time to be more aggressive. You have to start playing to win now.
Earl: If the results of the last vote hold up, you are a target. Politically, you need to find five votes in order to protect yourself. You probably have Yau-Man and Cassandra, but you need to get Dreamz and one other vote. It is going to be hard, but it is possible. Mookie might be willing to sell as he has backup in the immunity idol, and might be open to a deal. Otherwise you might ask Yau-Man to borrow the idol if you think you are a target in order to change the situation to your advantage. Good luck!
Yau-Man: You have the idol, but it might be worth giving up if you can change the political situation. The last vote put the old Moto tribe at the advantage. You can get it back if Earl is the target and you give him the idol. It’s a gamble, but probably a good one.
Boo: The sides are clear, and you need to go back to your old Moto allies and be a vote they can depend on. You were a target, now you need to change the situation, and the easiest way is to sell your vote. If you can do that, you are safe for a number of votes, and you bought time to figure out a new strategy. You can win, it just is a matter of playing your cards right.
Alex: Well done in getting the vote under control. However, you can’t ever declare your alliances to Probst like you did in the last episode. You got away with it... once, and even then Michelle has a jury vote she can use against you. Right now you have to solidify your alliance and you’ll be safe.
Edgardo: You are probably safe as the votes went your way. You need Alex and Mookie, and try to pick up Dreamz vote along the way. Also, try to control your emotions. Mookie did a stupid thing by telling Dreamz that he had the idol, but you have to live with the situation. Remember, Mookie DOES have the idol and he can use it.
Dreamz: The vote kept you safe for now, but I agree... getting rid of Stacy over Michelle put you in a bad situation. What you do have is the knowledge that Mookie has the idol. If you can trade that information for a better alliance, do it. Approach Earl and work out a plan if you can, otherwise vote with the rest of the tribe while you figure out how to play your cards.
Mookie: I don’t know why you told Dreamz about the idol, but you did. He will tell all eventually, and it doesn’t reflect well on you as a player. For now, you have a good position though; your vote is needed by your alliance, and you still have the idol. Vote out anybody outside your group for now, and hold the idol in reserve.
Michelle: What went wrong? It was a -*test*-('") of power, and you lost. The old Moto alliance held up and you lost the vote and the game. I don’t think it was the right vote, but it is what it is.
