Advice for the Remaining 11 Survivor: Fiji - Advice for the Remaining 11
by Jeffrey Clinard -- 04/05/2007
After the most recent tribal council, Rocky became the first member of the jury. If the remaining players want to win, they’ll have to think about how to curry favor with jurors like him. What should they do? Well, they can start by considering Jeffrey’s advice.
Now that the jury phase has started, Survivors need to remember that everything they do will be remembered by the jurors. Lips need to be buttoned up and fights need to be avoided. More importantly, the Survivors need to constantly tally up the votes in order to insure they have the numbers at Tribal Council. It’s another reason why Survivors should play nicely; at some point a faction might need a vote, and while smart players will vote in their own self-interest, it’s easier to buy a vote if the players are on good terms.
Yau-Man and Earl once again tagged-teamed the rest of the Moto tribe, allowing Yau-Man the chance to dug up the immunity idol, and even bury a fake one in its place. Whether or not the deception works, the reaction to somebody finding the fake should be a moment that could only be surpassed if the Survivor actually tried to use it Tribal Council.
The challenges were standard Survivor types, neither of which required great physical strength. The reward challenge used a native weapon and led to an eating binge by Ravu. The immunity challenge required teamwork between the caller and the blindfolded person. One of the tricks to the challenge was a good read of where the skull was by the blindfolded person. It took more skill than strength to figure out where it was located and break it.
As the vote showed, it’s not as important for Survivors to vote off the weakest player, but rather somebody who doesn’t fit into the voting plan. The original Ravu and Dreamz lost their chance last week, leaving Mookie and Dreamz as the outsiders. Over at Moto, Boo doesn’t seem to realize the political situation has changed, and even if Cassandra remains loyal, Earl and Yau-Man have the hidden immunity idol.
The mistaken assumptions of some players, or the ability to manipulate the vote to advance an agenda are all tools the Survivors can use to win the game. What should each player be doing to advance? It’s advice for the remaining 11.
Moto: Your tribe keeps winning immunity, which makes it difficult to see where the politics of the tribe lie. While Boo thinks it’s Yau-Man next on the chopping block, his hidden immunity idol keeps him safe from the vote. Whether or not he’d need to use the idol depends on the skill of the former Ravu members.
Cassandra: Your vote is critical, as you can improve your position by helping to vote out either Boo or Stacy. If your tribe loses immunity, make the deal and vote out whoever you think carries the most influence. I think it’s Boo, but you are safe voting out Stacy as well.
Stacy: The best way to protect yourself is to sell out Boo. Use the logic that the individual game is coming up and Boo is a powerhouse, at least in comparison to you. Once the game hits the merge, you’ll be in a better position, as you aren’t as large of a target as some, and that buys time. The best way to get to that position is to vote off Boo.
Earl: You did a great job keeping the rest of the tribe away from camp, allowing Yau-Man to promptly dig up the hidden immunity idol. If Cassandra isn’t selling her vote, then the idol becomes the leverage needed to either get her on your side, or take out Boo or Stacy. I’d suggest taking out Boo, but if Stacy is annoying, she’s a good target as well..
Yau-Man: Well done in digging up the idol, then covering up the evidence. As far as the fake idol you made, I’m not sure it’s going to fool anybody, but there is always the chance that somebody will fall for the ruse. Stick tightly to Earl, but make sure Michelle is included in your socializing. You need her vote if you go to Tribal Council.
Michelle: Your best move is to try to be the person who swings Cassandra’s vote. If you can establish yourself as a player, then you might get the respect you need from the jury. Rocky’s place on the jury implies a three person final Tribal Council. You need to start showing your active role in the game in order to win jury votes.
Boo: Unfortunately, you do not have a good understanding of the game or your tribe. Yau-Man isn’t going home; he’s got the hidden immunity idol and political protection. If you get the word that Cassandra is selling you out, try to cut a deal to make it Stacy instead, citing the need for strength. It’s your best way to try to survive until the merge.
Ravu: Well done in winning a challenge. It provided a morale boost and some fun and food. However, you need to start winning immunity. While it might even make sense to throw the immunity challenge to get rid of Mookie, you never know when or if a merge will occur.
Alex: You have a very good position, as the former Moto members control the vote, and have a clue to where the hidden immunity idol is located. You need to find it as your weapon, though it might not be needed until after the merge. Always look at the votes you can control post-merge; they are the key to winning Survivor.
Edgardo: You made an attempt to get Rocky to tone down, but it was pretty much doomed to fail. In the future, don’t even try to calm down another Survivor you aren’t allied with; it is in your best interest for them to make a fool of themself. It makes them an easy target at Tribal Council, which will allow you to advance another step.
Dreamz: Your position is fairly weak, but you might have the advantage of being on the original Moto tribe and having voted with them after the tribe shuffle. It may be enough to buy you another week if you go to Tribal Council and vote off Mookie. You need the time in order to make the merge and play a different game.
Mookie: You have one of the worst positions in the game, as you are politically outnumbered and the last remaining original Ravu left on your tribe. If you lose immunity, try to sell Alex and Edgardo on selling out either Lisi or Dreamz. Dreamz is the better sell as he is emotional at times and wasn’t part of the original Moto alliance. Fake a male bonding experience with them if you have to.
Lisi: I can’t believe that you couldn’t figure out the location of the hidden immunity idol. It was clear to Yau-Man and Earl several clues ago. Of course, if you are really being clever, send the other members of the tribe you trust (Edgardo and Alex) off on wild goose chases while you go after the idol. If you told them the full truth, your position is weakened as one of them may get the idol.
Rocky: What went wrong? A combination of your attitude and the fact you lost control of the vote by taking out Anthony. Those two combinations made it easy for the others to vote you out.
