50's Week Discussion Thread
I can't wait for this week to get started! I am looking forward to Elliot, Mandisa, Chris, and Paris. I'm not a fan of Katharine but if she does something spectacular, I might fall into the McFever.

McFever? Oooh, that was bad.

I was so disappointed in Lisa tonight. She was one of my favorites but the song she picked wasn't challenging, it was really boring, and she didn't even do a good job on it although it was simple. I'm afraid she's going to be going bye-bye after that performance. I liked Mandisa the most and Chris did well, as usual. I hated Kellie's overdone hick accent. She sounds country enough without emphasizing it. I still don't like Ace, Taylor, or Paris. Kevin was ok. I didn't care for Elliott's song. Bucky's performance was forgettable. For bottom three, I would choose Taylor, Ace, and Lisa. I think the audience will choose Lisa, Elliott, and Kevin for the bottom three.

McFever? Oooh, that was bad. McFever was coined a few episodes back. I thought it was funny then, and I still like it!  I hated Kellie's overdone hick accent. She sounds country enough without emphasizing it. How do you know she's "overdoing" it? I know people who have strong accents like her. But even if she's emphasizing it, me likey. I liked everyone last night, for the most part. I think Barry Manilow did an excellent job coaching those idols. I would have liked to see him work with Melissa last week; too bad they started with Stevie Wonder instead of Barry. My favorites were Chris and Mandisa, with Katharine and Paris and Kellie and Lisa and Elliot close behind. My least favorites were Ace, Taylor, Bucky and Kevin--though I did like Kevin more than in the past. For bottom three, I would choose Taylor, Ace, and Lisa. I think the audience will choose Lisa, Elliott, and Kevin for the bottom three. I don't think Lisa will be in the bottom 3 for 2 reasons, 1) she sang well last night and 2) people who like her will be certain to vote for her after her Bottom Three appearance last week. But I can see Ace in the bottom again--unless his fans also get out the vote after his appearance in the bottom 3 last week. ::shrug::

I have the mcpheever.

pika- 03-22-2006

I have the mcpheever. That sounds like a sandwich at McDonalds. Yeah, I'd like the Chicken McPheever value meal with a Dr. Pepper for the drink.

Her Grace- 03-22-2006

Pika's right, not only was the redneck accent strong, but certain parts almost sounded like a bad inspector Jaque Croseau (sp) accent was being thrown in, out of the blue. DH and I were both aping her performance and her dumb as a stump comments afterwards- "Look, a pickle" I did not understand the praise the judges heaped on her at all. I think she should be in the bottom one, jmo. Bucky did not impress at all, neither did Kevin. The outstanding ones last night were Mandisa, Chris, and Katharine. The rest were all just average.

idolfan- 03-22-2006

I really like Paris, but I am very alone on that I think! My favorites are still Mandisa, and Chris however. I think Mandisa did an awesome job last night, and I have no quams about Mandisa's personality. She is so natural, and she seems honest. I don't get any "put on" sense from Mandisa that I get from Paris. I think Paris may be able to outsing Mandisa, but Mandisa has her beat on personality imo Ace is crap. He can go home. Why do Lisa and Paris get criticized for choosing songs that are too old for them and Kevin gets away with anything? Any song he chooses, he is praised by Randy and Paula. I don't get it!

slim smurfy- 03-22-2006

I thought Kellie sang the country song just fine. Parts of it even sounded a bit like Patsy Cline to me. When you sing country there is nothing wrong with sounding country. I saw on the news that Chris was getting beat up because he stated that he was doing an original version of Walk the Line. It appears that it is almost an exact duplicate of the way some alternative (can't remember the name) groups version. They played them both back to back.

Katharine did amazing. <3 her.

Re: 50's Week
My favorites were Kellie and Chris. I really liked both of their songs. Taylor's song was terrible. I just don't see what people see in him. He's got premature grey hair... big deal. He's so overrated. Now that Kevin is gone, Taylor is the one who'd I most like to see go next.

My favorites were Kellie...Matt liked Kellie?? I'm shocked! She does remind me of Carmin a bit.

Re: Kellie vs. Carmen
Kellie is good. But Carmen is better. They are both little minxes, though.

Brinna- 03-27-2006

MINX?? What's a minx? Ain't that a little critter they make coats outta??
